THE SCARLETT CASE...

just got murkier. Small wonder that the Chief Minister of Goa wanted to deflect attention by investigating the mother for carelessness.

Hmm..small wonder indeed!Trust our politicians to do everything imaginable.(and at times even the unimaginable!)

our cultural tendency is to blame/find fault with others rather than to self reflect. Sometimes this maybe a reflection of subconscious arrogance perhaps. Its the same as looking for happiness from external objects/issues/events as opposed to looking within oneself for inner happiness. Having said that this incident is not necessarily uncommon in developed countries such as the USA. A colleague of mine had her daughter hacked to death into pieces in philadelphia. This in a "developed civilized" society?
Solution: Education (support quotas?), introduce civics/behavioural education in all schools etc, etc..

Hi Shivani,
Thanks for stopping by. I did check out your blog too.

Hey Arif,
Of course gruesome crimes take place in the West as well. But the levels of corruption are so so much lower. So you can atleast hope that the perpetrators will be brought to justice and the state machinery is not working to cover up the crime which is what is happening in the Scarlett Keeling case. Her mother looks distraught. She just can't understand that the only difference between the mafia and the police is often just the uniform.
