IIPM vs BLOGGERS

Okay.. Yet another update. Though i have the sinking feeling very few people will read this on time. The blogger story will go on air NOW. The latest I know is that its going on air on the 8 and 9 'o' clock bulletins on NDTV 24*7 on 13th October. Thats right - tonight.

But if you miss it - take heart. We are planning to do a longer story on blogging pegged around this issue. Do leave your thoughts here on possible angles to such a story.

The last time we did such a story I think there was some confusion on who the target audience should be. Should it be the vast majority who do not blog and thus run the risk of perhaps not getting them interested in the topic or do we talk to bloggers but run the risk of telling them things they already know. I guess like a good general news feature it should interest anyone - So how do you do that? Will be picking my brain over that.

Hi Alaphia:

that great news kudso to ndtv
was away i missed the 8Oclock bulletin but ill keep a watch on the news at 9

my take on this iipm issue

Was it opinions or allegations why is iipm suing indian blogger ?
http://puneetworld.indiablogs.org/archives/2005/10/opinions_vs_all.html

a summary inshort point i have covered
-Freedom of speech Allegations VS opinions
-did gaurav make allegations or expressed his opinions ?
-Its morally unethical amateurish to sue someone for their opinion
-Are indian cyber laws redundant ?
-freedom of speech support badge few designed by me

and also not to mentioned “getting sued is not in my priority list thus a little disclaimer below in my postif at all its needed or not time would tell ”

lol

Hello,
please pardon my stupidity, but first time here and haven't had adequate time to read your post properly, so must beging by asking are you with NDTV? if so, please ask your bangalore desk to get in touch with me- I am one of the founders of the bloggers of bangalore community, and we are planning to take out a protest march to IIPM, bangalore next week, to hand over a formal letter of protest. in the event of their refusing to accept it, which is very likely, we are willing to hand it over as an open letter of protest to the media.

Al, don't you think that Blog is nothing but an old wine as they say in a new bottle? All those free websites we used to have in the mid to late 90s? Geocities (before Yahoo took over and screwed the community feel and commercialising it?), Fortunecity, Tripod (these still exist, but ain't glamorous anymore) etc etc? As a once-upon-a-time Geocities Community Leader, I should know. Only that Blogs are another easy way out for those lazy to keep realtime diaries... one because too lazy to put pen to paper in these days of Word Processors and two - it is someone else's space and I have a broadband at my disposal and I can rant (like Samanth's Weblagh says... no editorial cuts on wordlimit or freedom of speech!)? Penny for my thoughts somehow?
